New Year/ New Drive: Step 2 Imagine

Alright., you’ve had a whole 2 days to think about what you want to write about. I hope you’ve come to a conclusion. I know I have. I’m going to work on a collection of short stories. What are you going to work on? Leave your answer in the comments section below.

Now that the first step is complete, let’s move on to the next one. The second step is about imagining what your topic will look like. How will you make it unique.

This might be a little easier to do with fiction. In a fiction story you can highlight certain characteristics in a character, building, or scene. You can use descriptive language, or you can make a twist to, an otherwise normal, story.

Non- fiction, might take a little bit more work. However, try thinking about a unique perspective or angle to write from. Don’t just tell about a historical event. Perhaps, you can give an account from a perspective from one of the people in the historical moment.

If it is a self-help book, you can bring your unique experience to the forefront. This will allow you to say the same thing many experts say, but yet, it will be quite differently presented.

Regardless of how you decide to show your imagination, make sure you take the time to write over the next two days.
