New Year/New Drive Step 3: Outline

Okay, so now that you have picked a topic, and decided on style, it is now time for you to begin outlining your story.

I know that some writers prefer to fly by the seat of their pants.  However, I would like to encourage you to organize your story in an outline. An outline will help you organize your ideas, and produce a story that has the proper engagement and cliff hangers.

If you are not sure how to begin your outline, start by dividing it into 3 sections or acts. Divided your story into 3 parts: The set up, conflict, and resolution.

The 3-act play is a time proven method for crafting award winning movies, and it also holds the formula for an award winning book.

So, that’s it for today. Outline your story or book, and stay tuned for part 4.
